Travel, share, enjoy.
What's Hobo 2.0 Lifestyle all about?
Seeing as many people, places, and things as possible, and having a good time doing it. Hobo 2.0 is the new generation of Hobo, with the added benefit of technology that allow communication both ways on world wide scale, giving the Hobo the ability to share pictures, videos, and stories as they happen.

Get to know Hobo 2.0.

Ken Flannery
Age: 22

Two years out of school, I further realized what I always thought to be true growing up - school and working for the man are lame. If I'm going to work, it's going to be on my own terms, and towards something I believe in.

Life's for enjoying. I intend to do that, and experience as much as I can. Right now I have some cool ideas I've got started on, and none of them require me to physically be somewhere. Perfect. Now it's time to be everywhere.

A hobo is defined as a migratory worker who likes to travel, a tramp travels without working, and a bum does not travel or work. Hobo 2.0 however...

FAQ's

Hobo Life??!!

yes.

Where are you going?
I have no idea.

How long are you going for?
Indefinately.

Can I be a Hobo too ?
Sure, that's cool. I'm just about ready to let hobos and hobo helper join the site and do exactly what I'm doing, that is have a profile with your videos, pictures, and a map of your activities. All in good time.

So you're just gonna be a bum, and call that life?

It's hobo 2.0, not bum 2.0, there's a difference. A hobo is ambitious, out to see the world, and is able to get by with means of their own. A bum just wants hand-outs, sticks around, and never acomplishes anything. A hobo can take hand-outs too, but is just as willing to earn their keep.

How is Hobo 2.0 different than... Hobo 1.0?
The original hobo shot around the country on the rails, often with seasonal work in different areas. They'd cross paths with eachother and others, sharing stories or a drink.

Thanks to the good ole' internet, Hobo 2.0 can keep in touch like never before, on a global level, sharing pictures and videos from adventures. It goes both ways, getting instant feedback, advice, and suggestions from friends and strangers across the planet. Good ole' Google opens up new resources, making anything from "um... can I eat that, or will I die" to "how can I build a shelter?" and even discovering great sites like CouchSurfing.com full of people with a similar mind set willing to lend a hand (or a couch).

Along with using the web for sharing and learning, Hobo 2.0 uses it to make a living. There's plenty of great ideas for websites, and the beauty of is it that all you need is an internet connection and a computer, there's no geographical obligation.

So where are you gonna sleep?
You ask too many questions. Maybe the woods, a friend's place, a new friend's couch, a hotel, a bus terminal, a park, whatever.

How long are you gonna do this for?
I already answered that... pretty much forever.

Wait, so you might stay in hotels and stuff? That's not hobo.
I already explained the difference between a bum and a hobo. A hobo's goal isn't to be a dirty dude, but if that's what happens, they'll accept it. They'll also accept a hotel room. I'll be lucky if that's ever the case, as I still need to clear student loan expenses (don't ever go to college). Like I said, being a hobo isn't about roughing it or being a bum, it's about seeing the world and having a good time, and not being tied down to anything like an apartment lease.

You wanna hang out sometime?
Yea, I'm up for it. If I'm in your area, just give me a shout, or if you're going on a road trip or something I'd love to come along.
